[Review] Made In USA RoguePak Cartridge Hydration System

I’m always on the hunt for new and innovative American made products. I was recently contacted by RoguePak to check out their Cartridge Hydration System. They have designed their own hydration reservoirs that are designed to be economical enough to be discarded (preferably recycled) after use with sugary drinks. RoguePak has made their hydration system to be affordable, durable, and easy to use, so when want a new fresh hydration reservoir you just break out a new one.

Made In The USA

RoguePak is made in Texas, and packaged at the Austin State School of aged and disabled.  The program and people are very important to the owner/inventor of RoguePak Dave Dodgen.

What are the benefits of the RoquePak Cartridge Hydration System?

The biggest benefit here is that you’re able to always use a fresh hydration reservoir when you need one. If you only drink water from your hydration pack then you don’t have to worry about bacteria or mold. However, many of us like to put other sugary and powder type drinks in our hydration bags. We all know that you have to clean your bag out after you use it and that can be tedious. It’s hard to really tell if you got the bag clean enough and get it to dry properly. With these fully recyclable cartridges you can throw your reservoir away after a few uses (or even one) and start fresh with a new one, eliminating the cleaning chore and possibility of mold and bacteria.

How well does the RoguePak Cartridge Hydration System perform?

The RoguePak cartridge itself is made out of durable polyethylene. The mil thickness used makes the reservoir strong and is not easy to puncture. To set up the cartridge for the first time you just snap on the quick connect drinking tube from the kit and fill.

The Fast-Fill opening at the top can be a little tricky to get open at the first but once you get used to filling it it’s not very hard. It fills super fast with a hose or faucet. I wish the opening was a bit bigger. It’s not the skinniest opening I’ve used in a hydration reservoir but it could be a bit wider for filling with ice.

Once filled to the fill line you’re ready to roll the top down and close it with the supplied clip. The bag itself is actually self sealing without the clip. The clip keeps the opening from getting dirty and is an extra seal so liquid doesn’t get out.

Once filled I tossed the cartridge in my Hydrapak bag and ran the drinking tube. I didn’t have any way to make the cartridge stay up in my bag but that didn’t seem to hamper the function. There are two holes at the top of the cartridge to hang it if your hydration pack has clips that will work.

The hose itself is plenty long and the bite valve works really good. The bite valve didn’t leak for me at all.
