I got to meet up with Vlad from Vlad Cycles out of Boonton, New Jersey to check out his custom steel 27.5″/29″ hardtail mountain bike at the 2015 North American Handmade Bicycle Show. The bike features all 27.5″/29″ specific steel tubing from Dedacciai. This particular bike was designed to be used with both 27.5″ and 29″ wheelsets. At the show he had it set up with 27.5″ x 2.8 tires. The rack on this bike is the first one that Vlad has ever built. I think it turned out very slick and the slight upslope it has matches well with the top tube of the frame.

The rear thru-axle is a Paragon unit featuring a Syntace axle. The axle and the dropout are made to be eccentric which is nice if a frame isn’t exactly aligned this axle can work with it very easily.

Vlad was really interested in the challenge of building with the Dedacciai tubeset because it was new and features lots of interesting shapes. Almost all the tubing has varying diameter along the tube with flares and bends.

The headtube is a tapered Dedacciai model with custom Jen Green headtube badge.

The bike features 430mm chainstays.

Carl from Vicious Cycles did the custom paintjob on this bike.
